On the tank trail in Bordon

Back in 2014 we walked around this MOD area outside Bordon where tanks, army trucks and allegedly also a helicopter, were stuck in the sand and ditches for tank exercises.  It was very cool. It’s taken a while to make it back, and it was a bit of an anti-climax.

The soil is so sandy here, it’s a bit like being at the beach.

But less attractive than the beach!

Although there is water; tyres floating in the quagmire...

A tank tread.

Another watery puddle.

Tank tracks?

Anti-tank thingy.

A burnout child-sized motorbike, the closest thing to a tank that we could find.

Deer prints

It feels like it’s easy to get lost, so following the pylons helps.

Turns out the tanks left in 2015, no wonder we didn’t see any.  I read that they relocated the tank practise to Wiltshire?  But if there are no tanks, why are there tank tracks?  Maybe they’re just vehicle tracks.  Without the tanks, or prospect of tanks, I’m not sure I’d go back.  Interesting but not the most picturesque scenery!
