Fun & fungi in Marley
December is a dark and bare month but there were still fruits and fungi to see in Marley earlier.
I love how this branch extends to the other side of the footpath, and kinks upwards. I wonder how much longer it will grow?
This one reminds me of a triumphant green elephant.
The trees line the side of the path, which was once the road from Camelsdale to Fernhurst. I think? All gloriously mossy.
A few puff balls have survived the temptation of walkers to de-puff them.
Why does Silver Birch attract so much fungi?
Is that another puff ball, clinging like a sea anemone in a green above water world?
This one has crept all the way up the trunk.
Like-Ken, lichen.
Beautiful reflections.
It’s so joyful to see flowers on a December day, even if they’re surrounded by thorns.
There’s a touch of the jungle about some of the trees here.
Only a few Holly berries are left, having escaped the appetite of the blackbirds and thrushes.
The bracken has all frosted down to a tangle of pattern.
Freshly laid? We didn’t see the cute belted Galloway today.
Where to next?
